Evolution Of Communication

The communication is only the tool which differentiate human from animals. The whole journey of communication started with old - age cavemen. The cavemen need to gather around fire to discuss their day to day activities. It is similar to modern day social media like Whatsapp, Facebook, etc.

 One day, they decided to decode their activities and knowledge. The cavemen started to scribble on the cave. This can also be compared to modern day blogging. The challenge with this communication method is it was localised.


LONG DISTANCE COMMUNICATION

As people move out of the cave, long distance communication is much needed. Smoke signal was the first long distance communication. In general these smoke signals are used to transmit news, signal danger, or to gather people to a common area. In due course of time, pigeon have been used for long distance communication. And then , from ancient times, the king have been using human messenger called PONY Express to relay message. It is a mail service delivering messages, mails, newspapers and small packages.  It is also called as the ancestor of our present courier system.

The Semaphore flag is a telegraphy system conveying information at a distance by means of visual signals with handheld flags, rods and disk.

 Telegraphy was the greatest breakthrough in the field of communication. Invention of electricity gave birth to the electric telegraphy. Morse code is still used as the mode of communication globally. Couple of decades ago, telegraphy was the most popular mode of long distance communication. Then by the usage of electromagnetic waves, Radio came into the existence. This was just the beginning of a whole new era of distant communication.

Telephone communication came into existence. It is the transmission of speech over a long distance either by electric signals propagated along conductors or by radio signals. Armature Radio bloomed in this pattern of evolution. Then the advantage in technologies made the evolution of Mobile phones with 1G to 5G.

All these changes in communication that have taken place over the last century are due to huge technological development.
